Maldives has banned the entry of Israeli tourists in the country. The government announced on Tuesday that the decision has been taken to show solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The Parliament of Maldives has passed the bill for this. It has been approved by President Mohammad Mujju. According to the President’s Office, this ban has come into force with immediate effect.
The President’s Office also issued a statement accusing Israel of atrocities and genocide. However, Israel has dismissed the allegations.
According to official data, 2.14 lakh foreign tourists visited Maldives in February this year. There were only 59 Israeli among them. Last year, around 11 Israeli tourists visited Maldives, which was 0.6% of the total tourists.
