World Updates: 18 thousand foreigners living in Portugal will be removed, government announced before the election

The government has decided to remove more than 18 thousand foreign people living secretly in Portugal. Portugal is scheduled to have mid -term elections on 18 May. Immigration has become a big issue in this. Presidential candidate Antonio Leito Amaro said that the caretaker government will soon issue a notification for this.

Initially about 4,500 foreigners will be ordered to leave the country voluntarily. They will be given 20 days’ time to leave Portugal. Prime Minister Luis Montenegro had announced soon to hold elections in March. In fact, his social democratic party -led minority government lost the trust vote in Parliament.
