The United Nations chief on Tuesday expressed concern that women were often absent from peace talks. He said that this is the situation when 25 years have been completed to the historical resolution of the United Nations with equal participation of women in peace efforts. The head of the United Nations Women’s Agency has also expressed concern that sexual violence against women and girls is increasing. He said that 67.6 crore women are residing within 50 km of deadly conflicts. This number is the highest since the 1990s.

“We are looking at the security council meeting organized to commemorate the anniversary of the United Nations proposal,” Sampra General Secretary Antonio Gutaras said, “We are watching disturbing trends in military expenses, more armed conflicts and even more shocking cruelty against women and girls. He said that the number of uniformed women in the form of United Nations peace soldiers has doubled. In addition, women have led local arbitrations, extending justice for victims of sexual-based violence and women organizations have been helpful in recovering from struggles and promoting reconciliation. Gutaras said, but these achievements are delicate and it is very worrying that they are going in the opposite direction.
Gutaras clearly stated that the nations often gather in chambers such as the Security Council, filled with strong confidence and commitment. He said that despite this, he fails completely in fulfilling the demand for women and girls to save women and girls from rape and sexual misconduct in conflicts.

Gutaras urged 193 member countries of the United Nations to increase their commitment to women trapped in conflicts. He stressed that by providing new finance to this commitment, by ensuring the participation of women in peace talks, by setting accountability for sexual violence and ensuring their safety and economic security.
