A woman was killed due to leopard attack in a village in Sujauli One Range of Katarniaghat Forest Division in Bahraich district. An official of the forest department gave this information on Sunday.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) B. Shivshankar told ‘PTI-Bhasha’, “On Saturday night, Ranger of Sujuli One Range called him and informed him that Zahira (48), who was sleeping on the open roof of his house in Ayodhyapurwa village, was attacked by the leopard. The woman fell from the roof into the field. ”
He said, “Along with the woman, two of her children were sleeping, she struggled to save her mother from the leopard and made a noise after which the leopard ran towards the fields.”
The DFO said that the woman died on the spot. A post -mortem of the woman’s body will be done on Sunday. He informed that immediate assistance of ten thousand rupees has been given to the families of the deceased.
Shivshankar said that the woman has died outside the forest in the residential area, so after completing the formalities on the post -mortem report and other details, her family will be given assistance of five lakh rupees permitted by the government this week.
