Easy tricks to clean cauliflower and cabbage: Even before the onset of winter season, the vegetable markets begin to overflow with fresh green vegetables. The most awaited vegetables in winter are greens, peas, carrots, cabbage and cauliflower. Although most vegetables are now available in all seasons, summer varieties of cauliflower and cabbage have less flavor than seasonal vegetables. Speaking of cauliflower, people buy a lot of it in winters for cauliflower parathas and potato-cauliflower-pea curry. This vegetable is undoubtedly delicious and useful, but when you try to cut it, you will find huge worms hiding inside. So some people do not buy this vegetable quickly and hesitate to cut it. If you loathe or fear cauliflower bugs, don’t worry. You can get rid of cauliflower worms with a few simple methods.
Easy ways to remove insects from cauliflower
– Do not refrigerate cauliflower immediately after purchase, as it may affect other vegetables. First, submerge it in a large bowl of water. You can also boil the water and add some salt.
– Soaking the cauliflower in water will flush out any hidden worms. If you see them on the surface, drain the water and clean and cut the cauliflower again.
– Put water in a vessel on the stove. Add some salt and vinegar, and cut 4-5 large pieces of cauliflower. Be careful not to let the water boil, otherwise the cauliflower will become limp and soggy. Turn off the gas and leave the cauliflower in the water for 2 to 5 minutes. This will remove the insects.
-Whenever you buy cabbage, check it carefully. Often, cauliflowers have black spots and blemishes. The flowers appear to have been eaten. These are pests, so buy fresh, clean cabbage. Try to choose a medium-sized cabbage. Its taste is sweet and mild.
– Vegetables like cauliflower and cabbage have worms so deep that they are not visible from the outside. In such cases, clean these vegetables with lemon juice and baking soda. Take water in a vessel, add one teaspoon of baking soda and two teaspoons of lemon juice. Now add cauliflower to it. This will clean the cabbage and remove insects.
– You can also clean cabbage with vinegar water. Vinegar is rich in antibacterial properties and can eliminate germs, bugs and odors. Add two tablespoons of vinegar to warm water, submerge the cabbage in it, and leave it for 5-10 minutes. The insects will die. Cabbage will also clean well. Soaking cabbage in warm water with salt and turmeric will help remove the insects easily.
