Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket last week, he also retired from T20 International last year. Now he will be seen playing only ODIs. Kohli took this decision just before the tour of England. Many former cricketers expressed surprise at his decision. However, former India coach Ravi Shastri believes that Kohli should have gone on a tour of England and also captained. Shastri also said that Virat Kohli will get away from the game after stopping playing.
Virat Kohli has played 123 Test matches for India, scoring 9230 runs with the help of 30 centuries at an average of 46.85. He remained just 770 runs away from completing ten thousand runs.
Ravi Shastri told Sportstar that, I am sure that there is still two years of Test cricket left in Virat Kohli. I would like to see him in this summer in England. The idea of captaining him for the tour of England would have been good. But he would know better why he decided to leave. Perhaps he took this decision due to mental fatigue. Because the more fit of other players in the team and they know their body.
He further said that he is in ODIs to serve Indian cricket. But I also know that Virat Kohli will go away from the game after finishing playing cricket. He is not a person who would like to become a coach or play the role of a broadcaster. When India would like his first Test in England that he never gave up even an inch.
