On choosing Shubman Gill as captain, the chief selector of the Indian men’s cricket team Ajit Agarkar said that you do not choose the captain for 1-2 tour. You want to invest in something that help us move forward. We have seen some progress in them in the last 2 years. There is no doubt that it will be difficult to play a 5 -match series in England. Perhaps we have to learn a little at work, but we are very confident and that is why we are choosing them.
Regarding Jaspreet Bumrah, the chief selector of the Indian men’s cricket team Ajit Agarkar said that I do not think that all he would be available for 5 Tests, as physio and doctors have told us. They will decide on whether they will be available for 3-4 tests. If he is available for 3-4 Tests, he will win us some Test matches … We are happy that he is part of the team. After Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from Test cricket this month, this decision of the selectors was expected on the team leadership.

After the retirement of these two veterans, the team will go through a period of change in which it will have a tough test in England. The five -match series against England will begin in Leeds from 20 June. 25 -year -old Gill will be India’s fifth youngest Test captain. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi (21), Sachin Tendulkar (23), Kapil Dev (24) and Ravi Shastri (25) have led the country’s Test team at the age of them.
