Why is PM Modi’s ‘biggest fan’ Jagdeep Dhankhar silent for 100 days? Congress asked- What is the secret?

Congress on Wednesday said that 100 days have passed since former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from his post, but he is still silent and his farewell ceremony has not even taken place. Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh once claimed that Dhankhar was forced to resign. Dhankhar had resigned from his post at the beginning of the monsoon session of Parliament this year, citing health reasons. In the elections held thereafter, National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate CP Radhakrishnan was elected the new Vice President.

Ramesh posted on X, It has been exactly 100 days since an unprecedented event in the history of Indian politics happened. Suddenly and surprisingly late on the night of 21 July, the then Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned. He was forced to do so, even though he praised the Prime Minister day after day.

Ramesh said, as the Chairman of Rajya Sabha, the former Vice President was not a good friend of the opposition. He used to constantly and unfairly criticize the opposition. Yet, in keeping with democratic traditions, the opposition has been saying that he deserves at least a farewell ceremony like all his predecessors. This has not happened.

Former Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar remained completely silent for 100 days after his unexpected resignation, leading to widespread speculation and concerns in political circles.

On 21 July, in a move considered unprecedented in Indian politics, Dhankhar tendered his resignation citing health reasons, even though he had publicly praised the Prime Minister. The decision came as a surprise, leaving a void and a litany of unanswered questions.

Congress leaders, highlighting his adversarial relationship with the opposition as Rajya Sabha Chairman, have called for him to be given a befitting farewell in line with democratic traditions. The party has also urged the government to provide clarity on the real reasons behind Dhankhar’s resignation.
