Why hide Hindu massacre? Vivek Agnihotri questioned Mamata Banerjee, said- release the Bengal Files in West Bengal

Director Vivek Agnihotri has appealed to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to release her film ‘The Bengal Files’ without any obstruction. He has alleged that Trinamool Congress workers are threatening the theater owners not to screen the film. The film is the third and last film of Agnihotri’s ‘The Files’ series after the film, ‘The Tashkent Files’ (2019) and ‘The Kashmir Files’ (2022). The film reflects the communal riots in Kolkata in August 1946, known as ‘Direct Action Day’.

He requested the gi to listen to them and “do not press an important part of history”. Agnihotri claimed that he was getting a response from the theater owners of the state that he was being threatened with not to screen the film. Agnihotri reminded Banerjee of his constitutional duty.

He said, “You have taken an oath of Indian Constitution and have taken an oath to protect the rights of every citizen, freedom of expression and it is your responsibility not to face any kind of obstacle. Please consider that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has approved the film. ”Agnihotri said that Bengal has led the country on the cultural front and it is the soul of India.

He said that the state and its people made the most sacrifices in 1905 and 1947. Rejecting the argument of riots and violence should not be crushed by the film’s performance, he asked, “If a Japanese child should know about Hiroshima and Nagasaki massacre, then why should the new generation not be made aware of an important part of the history of the state and the country?” He said, “He said,” He said, “He said,” A true Bengali will not ban this film. ” The film cannot be banned in West Bengal. ”

Agnihotri asked that if Muslim, Christian and Dalit oppression can be shown in films around the world, then why should we hide Hindu massacre? Why do we keep lies alive? ”The filmmaker also recalled the incident of the film’s trailer launch at the five -star hotel in Kolkata on August 17, which he called the freedom of expression. Released on Friday, the film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Shashwat Chatterjee and Darshan Kumar in the lead roles.
