The Supreme Court asked for some sharp questions from the central government regarding the murder of the Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh on Wednesday. The Supreme Court questioned why Balwant Singh Rajoana was not yet lounced yet while the central government had described it a “serious crime.”

Earlier, on January 20, the Supreme Court had asked the Central Government to make a decision on his mercy petition. The central government had cited the sensitivity of the case and said that the mercy petition was pending. On September 25 last year, the Supreme Court had sought reply from Rajoana petition, the Punjab Government and Chandigarh administration. The bench has now adjourned from October 15, say he would not defer the case on the request of the central government.
