Gitanjali Angamo, wife of jailed activist Sonam Wangchuk, on Tuesday claimed that a fabricated story has been made to make someone a goat of sacrifice while avoiding implementing the sixth schedule and responding to the allegations against her husband. He targeted the police and condemned the statement of SD Singh Jamwal, Director General of Police (DGP) of Ladakh. Speaking to news agency ANI, he said that we strongly condemn the statements of Ladakh’s DGP. Not only me, but in Ladakh, everyone condemns these allegations.

Significantly, the DGP of Ladakh held a press conference on Saturday, in which he accused Wangchuk of relations with Pakistan and questioned his visits to neighboring countries. Describing the incidents of 24 September as extremely unfortunate, he questioned the role of security forces. He said that who ordered CRPF to shoot? Who is firing at its own people, its own citizens? Especially in an area where there was no violent demonstration. Rejecting allegations of her husband’s involvement in this unrest, she said Wangchuk was only involved in peaceful protests.

He said what would Sonam Wangchuk have incited? He did not know anything about all this. He was somewhere else, where he was on hunger strike. Instead, he accused the police of working with an agenda and making someone a goat of sacrifice. He said that whatever the DGP is saying has an agenda. They do not want to implement the sixth schedule under any circumstances and want to make someone a scapegoat.
