Today, the two leaders adopted a roadmap for our comprehensive strategic partnership, which actually reflects the prevalence and depth of our bilateral cooperation and gives it direction and speed. This roadmap will facilitate bilateral connections in eight priority areas including economic cooperation, skill development, digitization, stability, contact, healthcare and medical, defense and safety cooperation, and mutual and cultural exchange between people.

On the meeting of Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong with Prime Minister Modi in Delhi, Secretary (East) P Kumaran said that five MoUs have been concluded in important areas. These include cooperation on the Green and Digital Shipping Corridor, promoting cooperation in the space sector, cooperation in training and development in the field of civil aviation, cooperation in digital asset innovation and the establishment of a National Excellence Center for Skill Development in Advanced Manufacturing in Chennai.

Emphasizing the importance of increasing regional connectivity and port infrastructure to facilitate trade and economic growth, the two Prime Ministers jointly inaugurated the second phase of the second phase of Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Jawaharlal Nehru Port, India Mumbai Container Terminal (BMCT) in Maharashtra. The project, developed on DBFOT basis, is operated by PSA International in Singapore. With the completion of this phase, PSA’s terminal capacity has doubled 4.8 million Teu annual, making it India’s largest single container terminal and thus JNP has become the largest container port in the country. Both Prime Ministers appreciated a continuous increase in bilateral trade, which increased from $ 6.7 billion in 2004-05 to about $ 35 billion in 2024–25. They agreed that both sides should work on the next review of the India-Singapore CECA and the ASEAN-India Trade and Goods Agreement. The Prime Ministers also appreciated the growing investment flow between India and Singapore and paid attention to the possibilities of increasing it further.
