The ancestral house of Nobel Prize winner Rabindranath Tagore in Sirajganj district of Bangladesh, known as Ravindra Kacharibari, was attacked and vandalized on Tuesday. According to media reports, the attack took place on Sunday (June 8) after a dispute between a visitor and the employees over the motorcycle parking fee, which targeted the auditorium and other parts of the heritage site, damage to the windows, doors and furniture. Reacting to the crowd attack on the mansion, the BJP reacted strongly. BJP MP Sambit Patra alleged that it was a “pre-planned attack” by radical groups, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Hifajat-e-Islam Bangladesh.

After the attack, the authorities in Bangladesh closed the site and formed an inquiry panel to investigate the incident. According to the report of the Daily Star at Dhaka, a case was also registered against 50-60 persons, including 10 names.
