India has provided loan assistance of Rs 4,850 crore to Maldives under the new MoU (MoU) during the Prime Minister’s visit to Maldives. The Government of India provided 72 heavy vehicles to the Ministry of Defense of Maldives. After negotiating with President Muizu, Prime Minister Modi said that Maldives has an important place in India’s ‘neighbor’s first’ policy and ‘Ocean’ approach and India is proud to be the most trusted friend of Maldives. PM Modi said that India and Maldives will work towards finalizing the bilateral investment treaty. The Prime Minister said that we have decided to provide a loan assistance of US $ 56.5 million to Maldives. Along with this, India will always support Maldives in strengthening its defense capabilities.

I express my heartfelt gratitude to the President for inviting as the chief guest on this historic occasion. We have taken several steps to speed up our economic partnership. In order to speed up mutual investment, we will soon work towards finalizing the bilateral investment treaty, negotiations have also started on the free trade agreement.
