Weather revenge in Delhi-NCR: Torrential rains with thunder-glow, air travel also affected

The Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) received heavy rains on Tuesday, after which the Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for some parts of the city. According to IMD warning, alert has been issued for North Delhi, North East Delhi, Central Delhi, New Delhi, South Delhi, South East Delhi and Gurugram. The Meteorological Department’s warning states that the entire capital and NCR areas are expected to receive light thunderstorms at a speed of 30-40 kmph and moderate rains with electricity.

Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi has issued an advisory for passengers, stating that flight operations may be affected. Advisory states, “Due to bad weather in Delhi, flight operations at Delhi Airport may be affected. Our on-ground teams are working closely with all the stakeholders to give passengers uninterrupted and skilled experiences.” It asked the passengers to consider alternative means of transport including Delhi Metro to reach the airport to avoid possible delay.

An alert was also issued for Sonipat, Kharkhauda, ​​Farukhnagar, Baghpat and Khekra. Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Narwana, Fatehabad, Panipat, Gannaur, Jhajjar, Kosli, Mahendragarh, Sohna, Rewadi, Narnaul, Bawal, Nuh, Shamli, Kandhla, Barot, Pilkhua, Sikandararau, Hathras, Tundla, Firozabad, Shikohabad, Bhiwadi, Tijara, Khairathal, Kotputali, Kotputali, Rajga, Light rain and storm warnings have also been issued in Mahawa, Mahandipur Balaji, etc.

The capital received rain during the day earlier, there were black clouds in the sky, which are indicating heavy rains later. The Meteorological Department has issued Yellow and Orange Alerts for Delhi, with light thunderstorms and lightning with lightning. On Tuesday morning, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 21 degrees Celsius, 1.3 degrees below normal. The Meteorological Department said that the maximum temperature is expected to be around 35 degrees Celsius.
