Pakistani Senator Syed Ali Zafar has urged Shahbaz Sharif’s government to neutralize the water bomb in view of India’s decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) in view of the Pahalgam terror attack. Addressing the Senate, the Senator of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said that if we do not resolve the water crisis right now, we can die of hunger. Describing the Indus Basin as Pakistan’s lifeline, he said that three-fourths of the water consumed by Pakistan comes from outside. Nine out of every ten people live on the international border basin.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal also said that any bilateral dialogue with Islamabad would be held only to vacate the areas of Kashmir illegally occupied by Pakistan. Jaiswal said that I would like to emphasize that any bilateral dialogue on Jammu and Kashmir will only be held to vacate the Indian territory illegally occupied by Pakistan. He said that it would remain postponed until Pakistan renounces its support for terrorism across the border. As our Prime Minister said, ‘Water and blood cannot flow together.
