We can file a case against Priyank Kharge in court: Himanta

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma on Monday said his government is considering registering a case against Karnataka Information Technology (IT) Minister Priyank Kharge after he allegedly said there is no talent to set up big industries like semiconductor units in the northeastern state.

Sharma also criticized the opposition Congress for not condemning the Karnataka minister’s “objectionable statement”. He said, “Priyank Kharge is a fool of the first class. He has insulted the Assamese youth and Congress has not yet condemned Priyank Kharge.

Kharge had reportedly told a news channel that investments meant to be made in Karnataka were being diverted to Gujarat and Assam following ‘pressure’ from the Centre. Reacting to this, Sharma said, “Maybe, we should file a case against him because he has said that there are no educated youth in Assam. This is an insult to the Assamese youth. Therefore, we are considering whether a case can be filed against him in the court.
