The match between India and Pakistan to be held in the World Championship of Legends is now canceled. Amidst the controversy and resentment over this match, the organizers have officially announced to cancel the match, apologizing.
At the same time, many former cricketers Harbhajan Singh, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan withdrew their names from this match. Dhawan expressed displeasure on social media about this and wrote that, my country is everything for me and nothing is more than the country.
WCL said in its statement that, we have always loved cricket in WCL. Our sole purpose is giving the audience some good and pleasant moment. When we came to know that Pakistan’s hockey team is coming to India this year and recently there are contests between the two countries in some other sports including India-Pakistan volleyball match, we thought that people should be made some memorable and happy moments by getting India-Pakistan matches in WCL.
The statement further stated that, but perhaps in this process we sat down and inadvertently provoked the sentiments of many people. More than this, we put the Indian cricket legends in an uncomfortable position which has given a lot of pride to the country. At the same time, we also impressed the brands that were supporting us only because of our love for sports. For this reason, we have decided to cancel the India-Pakistan match.
At the same time, the organizers have also apologized and said that, we once again apologize to all those feelings. We hope that people will understand that our aim was only that we could give some happiness to cricket lovers.
