Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has launched a scathing attack on the new health model of the Punjab government. Sharing an advertisement issued by the Punjab government, he said that ‘Government of change’ now Rs 50 to MBBS doctors
.
He targeted Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal and asked where he borrowed this ‘world class system’ to run the health department? SAD, while criticizing this decision, termed it as an insult to the educated youth and demanded that all the recruitments be done as per the government’s rules.

What is in advertisement, on which MP raised questions
- According to the notice issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Punjab Government, the walk-in interview for the post of Medical Officer (MBBS) will be held on 1 April 2025 from 9 am.
- The recruitment will be in Sangrur Civil Surgeon Office.
- Doctors will be paid at the rate of Rs 50 per patient, and minimum 50 patients will be guaranteed.
- The maximum age has been fixed at 64 years.
- Candidates will have to bring their qualification, experience, registration certificate, age certificate and other documents together.
- It is mandatory for the candidate to pass Punjabi subject till matriculation.
- The government has reserved the right to revised, canceled or replace the recruitment process at any time.
Calling policy as derogatory for doctors
Harsimrat Kaur Badal and SAD targeted the government, describing the policy as derogatory for doctors and termed it as a mess with the future of the youth. Opposition parties have demanded immediate cancellation of this recruitment system and permanent recruitment under traditional government rules.
