PM Mark Carney cast his vote in the election.
Voting for the general election in Canada has been almost completed since Monday evening. In the initial results, PM Mark Carney’s Liberal Party has won 20 seats, while 24 seats are ahead.
The Conservative Party has won 9 seats, leading 32. Quebec party is ahead in 11 seats, while Jagmeet Singh’s New Democratic Party is ahead in one seat.
These elections are being held at a time when Canada is entangled in Tariff War with its neighbor America. The result of this election will come on 30 April or 1 May.
Although elections were to be officially held in Canada on October 2025, but Prime Minister Mark Carney announced a new election last month saying that he needed a strong mandate to deal with Trump.
Justin Trudeau, who was Canadian Prime Minister since 2015, resigned from his post earlier this year, after which Mark Karney was elected the new Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister’s tenure in Canada is 5 years, but if the PM loses a lot or the PM, then the Parliament can announce a new election by dissolving it ahead of time. Carney did the same.

Liberal Party estimated to get 189 seats According to Mainstance Research, Liberal can win around 189 seats, the possibility of forming a government up to 70%. On the other hand, the Conservative Party can also achieve better results than its previous performance. However, both Quebec and NDP seats may be reduced.


Main contest in Liberal and Conservative Party
liberal Party: The Liberal Party was established in 1867. It is one of the oldest political parties in Canada. The Liberal Party supports progressive ideology. Its emphasis is on issues like liberalism, environmental protection and social welfare.
However, in the past, the Liberal government is being criticized due to issues like inflation and unemployment. Trudeau was the Prime Minister from the same party from 2015 to 2025. In the last general election, the Liberal Party got 153 seats and was left behind by 17 seats with a majority, after which it ran the government with the support of the New Democratic Party.

Conservative Party: The Conservative Party is one of the major political parties of Canada. This supports the right wing ideology. The party was formed in 2003 after the merger of Progressive Conservative Party and Canadian Alliance. Its roots are associated with the old Conservative parties of the 19th century.
This party emphasizes economic liberalism, limited government, personal freedom, and traditional values. Pierre Polyvor is the leader of the Conservative Party since September 2022.
The Conservative Party criticizes the current Liberal government’s economic management and carbon tax policies. This party got 120 seats in the last election.
Difficult competition for Quebec and NDP
Quebec Party: In 1991, the Quebec party was founded by MPs who separated from Progressive Conservative and Liberal Party. This party supports issues such as environment, LGBTQ+ Rights and Abortion Rights. It won 33 seats in the 2021 general election, making it the third largest party in the House of Commons (Lower House of Canadian Parliament). However, this time its seats may decrease.
New Democratic Party: The New Democratic Party (NDP) was established in 1961. Currently Sikh MP Jagmeet Singh is the leader of this party. It emphasizes social justice, labor rights, economic equality, environmental protection and social welfare.
NDP won 25 seats in the federal election of 2021, making it the fourth largest party in the House of Commons. The Liberal Party had run the government with the support of NDP due to not getting much in the last election, but this time the research conducted before the election has estimated the NDP seats to decrease.

Mark Carney from Liberal Party
Mark Carney won the election of Liberal Party leader on 9 February. Carney received 85.9% votes. He took power in place of former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Mark Carney is an Economist and former central banker. Carney was elected Governor of Bank of Canada in 2008.
In 2013, the Bank of England proposed to become a governor due to the steps he took to take Canada out of the recession. In the 300 -year history of Bank of England, he was the first non -British citizen who got this responsibility. He remained associated with it till 2020. Pierre Polyr can become the Prime Minister of Canada if the Conservative Party wins in Canadian parliamentary elections. Pierre Polyer has a degree in international relations from the University of Calgary. They speak fluently French and English.
Pierre Polyr has been the Minister of Employment and Social Development in the Conservative Government of Prime Minister Stephen Harper from 2013-2015.

Jagmeet Singh from New Democratic Party (NDP) Jagmeet Singh is the Chief of NDP since 2017. He is the first leader to command a Canadian party. He was born in 1979 in Ontario, Canada. His parents moved from Punjab to Canada in search of a better life. According to reports, Jagmeet became a member of Parliament in 2011.
In 2013, India refused to give visas to Jagmeet Singh. He was accused of being involved in anti -India activities and having a relationship with fundamentalists.
After the cancellation of the visa, Jagmeet Singh alleged that the government was angry with him since 1984 for raising his voice for the victims of anti -Sikh riots. He claimed that he was called to honor the ‘Sikh of the Year’ in Punjab.
According to Canadian website Globe and Mail, Jagmeet Singh attended a rally in San Francisco in support of Khalistan in June 2015. He was heard speaking on stage with a poster of Bhindranwala. During this, Jagmeet accused the Government of India of massacre of Sikhs.
