Former Indian cricket team’s opener batsman Virender Sehwag has described India as a strong contender to win the Asia Cup 2025. Sehwag said that T20 World Champion India is the best team of the tournament and should defend its title in the Asia Cup. The Asia Cup will start in UAE from 9 September.
Sehwag told Sony Sports Network, the official broadcaster of the Asia Cup 2025, that we are world champions and we have recently won the T20 World Cup 2024 title. I am sure we will win the Asia Cup again. He further said that I think our team is very good and Suryakumar Yadav is coming forward and leading the team and he is the best player of T20 format. I am sure we will perform well under his captaincy, because we have seen earlier that when Surya took over the captaincy, we won many T20 matches and I am sure we will win the Asia Cup as well.
Sehwag further said that, I think that through this Asia Cup, we can prepare the T20 World Cup 2026 in the best way. We have a chance to see which new players should be given a chance and who can be included in the team. You can start forming a team for the World Cup. I think there can be no better chance than the Asia Cup to test their strength for the Indian team.
