Sonam Wangchuk ended her 15 -day hunger strike in Ladakh on Wednesday amid violence. He was staging a sit -in demanding state status to Ladakh and demanding expansion of the sixth schedule. However, this movement took violent form when a large number of people took to the streets in Leh and set arson and sabotage. There was a dense bubble of smoke and flames in the sky. The Youth Branch of Ladakh Apex Body (LAB) called for a protest after the condition of two of the 15 people sitting on a hunger strike of 35 days from September 10 after being admitted to the hospital after deteriorating on Tuesday evening. Many youth pelted stones at the headquarters of BJP and Hill Council.

In view of the rising situation, the local administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code (BNSS), which effectively banned five or more people to prevent further disturbance. Since the notice cannot be given individually, this order is being unilaterally passed. Any violation of this order will invite punitive action under Section 223 of BNS.

However, Wangchuk urged his supporters to stop the violence and said that it would harm his purpose. He said that I request the youth of Ladakh to stop violence immediately as it causes damage to our objective and worse. We do not want instability in Ladakh and the country. Earlier, Wangchuk had posted a video message on X to appeal to his followers. He posted, very sad events in Leh. My message of peaceful path failed today. I appeal to the youth to stop this nonsense. This causes harm to our purpose.
