Violence against Waqf Amendment Act in Jangipur area of Murshidabad district. 22 people arrested
Police arrested 22 people after the violence in Murshidabad, West Bengal to protest against the Waqf Amendment Act. Out of the 22 arrested, eight miscreants have been taken into police custody for further investigation.
From Tuesday (March 8), the Waqf Amendment Act was implemented across the country. After this, violence erupted in Jangipur area of Murshidabad district. Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code (BNSS) was implemented in the affected areas. Internet services are also closed in the area.
In fact, on March 8, during the protest against the Waqf Act, several vehicles were set on fire by protesters. It also included police vehicles. The protesters pelted stones in the clash, injuring several policemen.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said that the Waqf Act was not implemented in West Bengal. He had said- As long as Mamta is Didi in West Bengal, it will protect the property of the Muslim community.
Since the passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill, 12 petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court till now. The court will hear these on 16 April. At the same time, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board has announced a protest in the entire country from April 11. The Muslim Personal Law Board will perform in Bhopal on Thursday.

The copy of Waqf Act was tore in Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly
There was an uproar on the new Waqf law on the second day on March 8 in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. The National Conference (NC) MLAs raised slogans demanding a discussion on the bill in the House. During this, there was also a shock between NC and BJP MLAs.
Earlier on Monday, the NC MLA tore a copy of the Waqf Act in the House. An NC MLA tore his jacket and waved in the House. After this, the speaker postponed the House’s action for the whole day. Other parties, including NC, had said to bring resolution against the Waqf law.
On April 5, the President approves the law, the gazette notification issued
The Waqf Amendment Act was passed on April 2 after a discussion of 12-12 hours in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha on 3 April. After this, President Draupadi Murmu approved the bill late on 5 April. The government had issued a gazette notification regarding the new law.
During the discussion on the bill, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju had said- The purpose of the law is to prevent bias, misuse and encroachment in Waqf properties. The bill was supported by 128 members in the Rajya Sabha, 95 protested. This bill was passed in the midnight of 2 April in the Lok Sabha. During this period, 288 MPs voted in support and 232 in protest.

Muslim Personal Law Board protest against Waqf Bill
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) released a two -page letter in protest against the Waqf Bill on March and announced a protests across the country from 11 April. AIMPLB said that we will hold nationwide agitation with all religious, community-based and social organizations. This campaign will continue until the amendments are completely canceled.
All India Muslim Personal Law Board said-
“The Waqf Amendment Bill is a serious attack on Islamic values, religion and Sharia, religious and cultural freedom, communal harmony and the infrastructure of the Indian Constitution. The support of some political parties to the BJP’s communal agenda has completely highlighted their so -called secular mask.”
