Vijay Rupani was going to London to meet wife and daughter, former CM dies in plane accident, Gujarat BJP President CR Patil confirmed

Vijay Rupani, who was the 16th Chief Minister of Gujarat, is one of the more than 200 people who died in an Air India plane crash. The aircraft was going from Ahmedabad to London. The accident occurred when aircraft number AI-171 crashed in Meghaninagar area as soon as he flew from Ahmedabad Airport. Gujarat BJP President CR Patil has confirmed the death of Vijay Rupani. Rupani was going to his daughter’s house to London. According to the information, Vijay Rupani’s wife Anjali Rupani was in London for the past several days and now he too was going near to meet the daughter.

Earlier, Vijay Rupani’s e-ticket also went viral on social media. This shows that he was to return from London to Ahmedabad on 30 June. The Ahmedabad police has confirmed that more than 200 people aboard the aircraft could not escape the accident. However, 40 -year -old British citizen Ramesh Vishwas survived the terrible accident. Till now, he is the only one survived person in this accident.

A look at Vijay Rupani’s political career
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member Rupani was the Chief Minister of Gujarat for two terms from August 7, 2016 to September 11, 2021. He replaced Anandiben Patel in 2016 and remained the top position after retaining his Rajkot West Constituency in the 2017 Gujarat assembly elections. He resigned from the post in September 2021 and Bhupendra Patel took over in his place. In the early stages of his political career, Rupani was elected councilor of Rajkot Municipal Corporation in 1987 and was the mayor of Rajkot from 1996 to 1997. The following year, he became the General Secretary of the BJP’s Gujarat unit. Keshubhai Patel was also appointed as the chairman of the manifesto committee while being the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Rupani was also the chairman of the Gujarat Municipal Finance Board in 2013, when the current Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Rupani became the BJP President in February 2016 and held the post till August 2016. Before taking over as the CM of the state, Rupani was included in the first cabinet expansion by Anandiben Patel in November 2014 as a minister. From then on August 2016, he took over the Ministry of Transport, Water Supplies, Labor and Employment.
