Vijay announces amid stampede controversies, will win elections in 2026, no one will be able to stop him

After the tragic stampede in Karur in late September, actor Vijay has finally broken his silence. Addressing members of his Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam party, he described the difficulties he has been facing in his political journey as ‘for some time’ and firmly declared that no one can stop him from winning the 2026 elections.

He said, ‘At a time of peace and sorrow, meaningless rumors and bad political things were spread and imposed on us. The aim of all this is to destroy law and truth. However, we will stand firm with the law and the truth, and dispel these lies.

On 27 September, 41 people were killed and around 60 were injured in a stampede during a TVK rally led by Vijay.

Karur District Secretary Mathiyazhagan, who was arrested in connection with the stampede and later released on bail, called the incident a conspiracy and such a tragic incident.

After returning to Chennai, Vijay issued a statement on social media offering prayers and condolences for the victims. On 28 September, he announced financial assistance of ₹20 lakh to the families of each deceased victim and ₹2 lakh to the injured.

Exactly a month after the stampede (27 October), he met the families of the victims for the first time at a resort in Mamallapuram, a coastal town near Chennai.
