In Punjab's Ludhiana, the vigilance team has arrested Amardeep Singh Bangar, a resident of Amarpura, red-handed after accepting a bribe of 30 thousand rupees. Amardeep Singh runs his office in Jagjit Nagar. The accused took this amount to get the NOC issued in the name of the Municipal Corporation (MC) officials.

SSP Ravinderpal Singh Sandhu said that the accused has been arrested on the complaint of Naresh Kumar resident of Preet Nagar Shimlapuri. Naresh Kumar had filed a complaint in the Chief Minister's Anti-Corruption Action Line. He said that the complainant Naresh has alleged in his complaint that the said accused Amardeep Singh Bangar had taken a bribe of 30 thousand rupees from Ludhiana Municipal Corporation in exchange for issuing NOC.

According to SSP Sandhu, after investigating the complaint, it was found that the complainant's father, Madan Lal, had purchased the house in the year 2022 and he needed NOC to resell the said house. Amardeep Singh Bangar claims to be an employee of Patwarkhane (sales office) of village Gill. He asked them to issue the NOC soon after taking a bribe of Rs 30,000. He said that he is aware of the officers/employees of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation. This will speed up their work.

The complainant gave Rs 30,000 to Amardeep Singh Bangar in his office in the presence of his friend Om Prakash. When he could not give NOC, the accused Amardeep Singh Bangar gave him a check of 40 thousand rupees. He asked the complainant to withdraw the said amount of 40 thousand rupees and return 10 thousand rupees to him. But the check could not pass due to mismatch of signatures.

According to SSP Sandhu, during the investigation, the allegations leveled by the complainant against Amardeep Singh Bangar have been proved true. In this regard, a case has been registered against Amardeep Singh Bangar under Section 7-A of Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 420 of IPC at Thana Vigilance, Ludhiana. The accused has been arrested.
