A vegetable seller has been arrested from Anand Vihar railway station in Delhi and more than 200 grams of drug has been seized from him. The police gave this information on Saturday.
An official said that the accused named Rahul, a resident of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested by the police on July 17 by laying a trap on the service road near Chaudhary Charan Singh Marg adjacent to Anand Vihar railway station.
A senior police official said, “After searching Rahul, 213.5 grams of heroin was recovered from him. A case has been registered against him under the Self -Effective Medicine and Mind -Effective Material Act (NDPS).
Initial interrogation revealed that Rahul used to buy heroin from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh and send it to his contacts in Delhi. Police said that he used to work as courier and got mixed up with regular passengers at busy transport centers like Anand Vihar so that it could not be caught.
The official said that the accused has studied till 12th and he sells vegetables. He started smuggling intoxicants due to financial constraints in the greed to earn money quickly.
