Vanatara will support Maharashtra government’s petition to bring back Hathini Madhuri: Fadnavis

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday that the Animal Rehabilitation Center at Jamnagar will support the state government’s plea demanding to send him back to a monastery of Hathini Madhuri to a monastery in Kolhapur. He said that a rescue center will be set up for Hathini near the monastery in Nandani in Kolhapur district.

Fadnavis said in a post on ‘X’, “I had a detailed discussion with the Vanatara team in Mumbai today. The good news is that he assured me that he is keen to join the petition of the Maharashtra government in the Hon’ble Supreme Court to bring Hathini Madhuri back to the monastery. “

This elephant is 36 years old, which was in Nandani for more than three decades in Shri Jinseen Bhattarak Pattacharya Mahaswamy Jain Math. He was shifted to the Jamnagar Rehabilitation Center in Vantara after the court’s decision last week, after which protests started.

On Sunday, thousands of people took out a silent march in Kolhapur and demanded to bring back Madhuri (also known as Mahadevi). At the same time, Vantara said that he had not requested to move Hathini to his center, but he only served as “recipients appointed by the court”.

Fadnavis also told in the post that Vanatara team is ready to create a rehabilitation center for Hathini near Nandani. Later, talking to reporters at Vaijapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, after attending a ceremony organized by Dharma Guru Rangiri Maharaj, he said that a rescue center would be set up for Hathini, which would have facilities recommended by the High Level Committee appointed by the Supreme Court.

The Chief Minister said, “We have also talked to the people of Vanatara and have sought their support on it. He has agreed to this. ”After a non-governmental organization complained to the Forest Department and the Supreme Court appointed by the Supreme Court, the Mumbai High Court ordered Madhuri to rehabilitate Madhuri on 16 July at the center of Vanatara. It was challenged by the monastery, but the apex court upheld the High Court order on 25 July.
