Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has claimed that he has recognized a “pattern” of encroachment by “illegal Muslim intruders”. He has said that these Muslim intruders first take houses on rent, then sacrificed the cow in that premises. The Chief Minister warned the landlords, saying, “Their culture does not match our culture. If they cut a cow in the premises, saying that ‘we can eat beef’, the nearby temple will have to be moved.” He said that there are real problems in Assam.
He said, “First they (illegal Muslim infiltrators) hire a house, then cut the cow, then a mosque is built there. This has to leave the area of Satra (Vaishnav Math of Assam). It has become an established pattern in Assam.” He asked the student organizations and NGOs to identify such “patterns”. “Although he said that no other should take action. They should not go to the houses. It is the government’s job.

Let us tell you that in a viral video, Chief Minister Himant Biswa Sarma pointed to an alleged meeting of Muslim journalists (organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind) and said: “Have you ever seen a meeting of Hindu journalists? But they (Muslims) made a meeting. It is true. Our community is under constant pressure. Our community is under pressure. Some people have given up and some people are defending and some are still struggling. So that they get discouraged. ” He warned: “After all, you will have to marry your sisters to these people.”
Let us also tell you that the warnings being given by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma about Bangladeshi infiltrators repeatedly give rise to a special discussion in the politics and society. His saying that these intruders are spoiling the “demographic balance” of the state, a serious charge, which is necessary not only in emotional or political accents, but in historical, social and legal contexts.
If seen, the issue of illegal infiltration in Assam is not new. The Assam movement which lasted from 1979 to 1985 and the Assam Agreement in 1985 confirm the concern that foreigners infiltrates in the border areas have affected the identity, resources and employment of local citizens. The fear of the culture, language and social fabric of Assam, it cannot be called completely baseless. There is no doubt that the government should take strict action on illegal infiltration. Assam’s borders should be safe, citizenship identity should be clear and the social structure of the state remains balanced, this is a legitimate administrative concern.
However, let us also tell you that the Chief Minister of Assam is not only aggressive against Bangladeshi intruders but also makes aware of the evils prevailing in Muslim society. In his recent statement, he has said that two societies live in the same Assam. One, where 22 -year -old daughters go to the university and get higher education and the other is where 14 -year -old girls are pressurized to become a mother. He said that we are committed to eradicating this social inequality.
