In Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, on Tuesday (August 5, 2025), at least four people died and dozens of people are expected to be washed away due to sudden floods due to torrential rains in Kheer Ganga river. The flood affected the hotels and residential buildings of Dharali town, 8,600 feet above sea level. In the video footage recorded by the residents, the huge waves of water passing through the area and swallowing everything coming in their way including people and houses.

Indian Army deployed 150 personnel, drones and helicopters to rescue Uttarkashi
The Indian Army has deployed 150 soldiers under the leadership of Colonel Harshvardhan, Commanding Officer of 14th Rajarif, in rescue and relief operations amid landslides at Harshil in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. Since Tuesday, army trackers dogs, drones and economics have been deployed to remove people and provide necessary supply.
