In Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, at least 4 people died and more than 100 people are expected to disappear in the sudden flood on Tuesday. However, this figure may also increase. The spot is in Dharali village near Harshil of Uttarkashi district. Continuous heavy rains became the cause of havoc in the hilly areas. There was a cloudburst in Dharloi village of Harshil region of the district, causing a sudden rise in the water level of the Kheer Ganga river, causing heavy debris and there was widespread damage in the Dharli-Kheer Ganga area.

It is being told that at the time of this accident, more than 200 people were present in Dharli, including local and passengers. About 20 people have been rescued and the injured are undergoing treatment. Shortly thereafter, landslides and cloudburst also affected the army camp and a part of the rescue team. Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with officials at the State Disaster Operations Center in Dehradun and took stock of the situation after a cloudburst in Uttarkashi. NDRF DIG Mohsen Shaheedi said on Tuesday that three equipped teams have been sent after cloudburst and sudden floods in Harshil in Uttarkashi. Talking to reporters, he said that the incident happened around 2 pm and initial reports show that 40 to 50 houses have been swept away and more than 50 people are missing. Shaheedi said, “There will be a massive rescue operations there.” He further said that each team included 35 trained personnel trained in search and defense.

SP Sarita Doval of Uttarkashi said that people have been evacuated from their homes to safe places. Local police, SDRF, ITBP and Indian Army Rajput Rifles personnel are present on the spot. Since there is another landslide on the way, some of our teams are stuck there. Relief and rescue operations are currently in full swing. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described the incident as ‘extremely tragic’ and said that he is in constant touch with senior officials.

The 16-member team of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police has already reached Dharli after Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured Chief Minister Dhami of all possible assistance after the incident.
