A car crashed into a car on the road near Ramnagar in Nainital district of Uttarakhand, causing the subordinate officer of Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh, Vikas Chandra and his wife, were seriously injured. The police gave this information on Sunday.
According to the information given by the police, Jehadsa Perumdara took place late on Saturday night when Chandra was traveling in his car with wife Dr. Deeksha Sharma and his car overturned several times after hitting the divider on National Highway-309. Chandra himself was driving the car at the time of the accident.
Police said the seriously injured couple were immediately taken to a hospital in Pirumdara where after first aid, they were first referred to a hospital in Kashipur in Udhamsingh Nagar district and then to a hospital in Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, seeing their condition after first aid.
Dr. Siddharth Sharma, a doctor at the hospital of Pirumdara, said that when the husband and wife were brought, the condition of both of them was very critical. The car was also badly damaged in this accident.
Local people alleged that the Pirumdara portion of the national highway has become very sensitive to accidents and there have been about 10 accidents in the last only one month.
He attributed the faulty construction of the divider, lack of reflective signals and especially inadequate lights at night. Police said that the officials of the National Highway have been informed about the condition of the divider. Administrative officials have assured that after investigation, appropriate steps will be taken to improve road safety and prevent accidents in future.
