History of US Independence Day
America was not always independent. It was under the control of the British, who established their colonies in North America and later expanded their territory. Prior to 1776, the United States land was made up of thirteen British areas on the east coast of North America. Even though the colonies had local rule with elected legislators, they were still under the rule of the British monarchy and Parliament. Increasing dissatisfaction over issues such as taxation without representation, ban on self -government and deployment of British soldiers further enhanced the anger among colonists. Representatives of the continent Congress at Philadelphia eventually approved the declaration of independence, which was mainly prepared by former US President Thomas Jefferson. The President announced that colonies were independent and independent states.
Celebration
4 July is an important holiday in the United States. On this important day, participate in the American parade and go to programs and music celebrations, where patriotic songs, such as “America the Beautiful” and “This Land is your land” are played. At night, many people gather in parks to see fireworks, performing colorful lights in the sky.
Where did Statue of Liberty come from
In 1884, 108 years after America’s independence, France gifted the Statue of Liberty to the US, which became a global symbol of freedom and democracy. The statue was designed by French sculptor Frederic Augrosy Bartoldi and its internal structure was designed by Gustav Eiffel (who made Eiffel Tower). The idol is based on the image of a Roman Devi Libertas, a symbol of freedom.
