UP: Lover couple who fled from Muzaffarnagar committed suicide by consuming poison in Chandigarh

On Thursday, a boy and girl, who belonged to different communities fled to a village in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, committed suicide by allegedly poisoning a hotel in Chandigarh.

A senior police officer gave this information on Friday. According to the police, the two had a love affair and the incident took place after the girl’s family filed a kidnapping complaint against the boy. Police said the dead have been identified as Arshad (21) and 17 -year -old minor girl, who were residents of the same village.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Kumar said that the girl’s family had lodged a complaint of her disappearance and accused Arshad of kidnapping her.

He said, “A suicide note was also found in a hotel in Chandigarh, in which it was written that they are committing suicide.” Earlier, Hindu activists had demanded the recovery of the girl, after which the police started searching.

The state police was informed about the girl and boy committing suicide from the Chandigarh police on Thursday night. According to the police, Arshad, who works in the local factory and a student of class 11, had a love affair for some time. Police said that the girl had left for school on August 18 and ran away with Arshad instead of coming back home.
