The film Ajay-The Untold Story is coming soon on the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The film is directed by Ravindra Gautam. The shooting of the film has been completed and its post-production is currently on. Anant Joshi plays Yogi Adityanath in the film.
Recently Ravindra has a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar on the film and casting-
Question- How was Anant selected for the role of Yogi Adityanath in the film?
answer- We had to choose an actor who is also a good artist and who has innocence on his face. Yogi ji has a natural innocence which is seen in his words and behavior. We wanted a face that is like an empty canvas, on which Yogi ji’s personality could be portrayed, without any prior perception.

It was a responsible job to choose an actor for the role of an impressive personality like Yogi Adityanath ji. Since Yogi ji himself comes from a hill background, we gave priority to an actor who is either a hill or on whose face has some characteristics of the area. This was important so that the audience could easily connect with the character.
We auditioned many artists. We paid special attention to the artists who reflected an innocence on their face, because as a director I believed that this is an important aspect of Yogi ji’s personality.
Ravindra Gautam has directed Maharani 2.
I realized that there is a simplicity within him that also appears in his public life and speeches. In addition, we chose an actor who did not have a very big “stardom ‘burden on before.
Question- What process was adopted for the preparation of the film?
answer- We took a lot of help from Shantanu Gupta’s book “The Monk Hu Bikem Chief Minister”. This book throws a detailed light on the life and political journey of Yogi Adityanath.
Actor Anant also made changes in his daily life, such as getting up at 4 in the morning, worshiping, and meditating, so that he could get into the character. Important events and information given in the book made the basis of the story of the film. My role in preparing Anant for a character was a guide and associate.
I believe that it is not enough for an actor to change the external appearance, he also has to understand the internal spirit and ideology of the character. We paid the most attention to this aspect so that Anant can not only look like Yogi ji, but also feel like him.
Anant Joshi has previously appeared in series and films like 12th failure, jackfruit and Yeh Kali Kali Akh.
Question- On which aspect is the story of the film focused on?
answer- The film is inspired by the life of Yogi ji, especially from his village to becoming the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. We wanted to tell their story to inspire today’s youth, which shows that even an ordinary person can achieve a big goal. The film shows the journey till his becoming the Chief Minister, showing the aspects of his life that people have not seen before. That aspect of his life most inspires me how a person of a simple background can achieve such a huge success on the strength of his hard work and dedication. The purpose of our film is not just to present their biography, but to bring the essence of this inspiring journey to the audience. This story is particularly important for today’s youth.
Question- How many conversation was done with Yogi Adityanath ji during the shooting?
answer- Yogi ji is a very simple person. Talking to him was very inspired by his simplicity. His simplicity was the most inspiring. We did not try to completely repeat the form of Yogi ji through makeup in it. We focused on showing his personality. Anant himself shaved his head and tried to go into the depth of the character. We show his early life, his education, his spiritual inclination, and important stages of entry into his political life.
The film also highlights the events and circumstances that shaped him as an influential leader. We had some limited meetings with him, but in those meetings, his simplicity and clarism had a profound impact on me. During his conversation with him, my main objective was to understand the depth of his personality, especially his ease that I had felt earlier. He did not directly give any special briefing about the story or character of the film. His vision is very positive. There is still a lot to do for them. They are more concentrated on future goals. There was no special request or self -realization about his previous achievements or his life story.
There were any special challenges during the shooting of the Question-Film?
Answer- We shot the film like a normal film, so there was no major challenge. Shooting in Lucknow was easy as the administration there was very helpful. We shot most of the film in Lucknow, which is also my home town. This provided a lot of convenience in handling logistics and other arrangements at the local level. In recent years, the government’s attitude towards film production in Uttar Pradesh has been very positive. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji, several policies have been implemented to promote the film industry in the state. We also got the benefit of this. We got a lot of support from the local administration, which led to the shooting process very smooth and smoothly.
Question- Why was Dinesh Lal Yadav “Nirhua” selected in the film?
answer- The story of the film is from Gorakhpur, and we wanted actors who can play the characters of that region well. Dinesh Lal Yadav was suitable for that role. An important part of the film’s story is connected to Gorakhpur and eastern Uttar Pradesh. The region has its own specific cultural and linguistic identity. We decided to take such artists who are associated with the soil of the region and which have a strong identity among the audience. Dinesh “Nirhua” is a very big star of Bhojpuri cinema and has tremendous fan following in Purvanchal. We chose him for a character that plays an important role in the story.
Question- Why not connect with this project further after “Maharani 2”?
answer- After season 2 of “Maharani”, I could not join season 3 and 4 due to the problem of dates. Currently, I am working on some other projects that will be announced soon.
Question- When is “invincible-the untold story” going to be released and what do you expect from the audience?
answer- The film “Ajay-The Untold Story” is now in the final stages of post-production. We are planning to announce the release date of the film soon. We are hoping that the film will be in front of the audience by the end of this year or early next year. The audience hopes that we hope that they come to theaters to see an inspirational and untold story. We have taken his extraordinary journey on screen with honesty and sensitivity.
