Imagine if after years of hard work, hefty fees and exams, your degree turns out to be fake. To curb this risk, the University Grants Commission (UGC) releases a list of fake universities every year. This time, the UGC has identified 22 fake universities that are not authorized to award any degree. The UGC has clearly stated that any degree obtained from these institutions will not be valid for employment or other studies. Students are urged to check the affiliation of any university before admission by visiting ugc.gov.in so that no one can jeopardize your future.
How do fake universities work?
These institutions mislead students by adding words like “university,” “national,” or “open” to their names. They do not have any government or UGC recognition. They just charge fees and promise degrees. Most fake universities are found in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
