Alert was issued after a threatening email at Udyog Bhavan in New Delhi, warning of a possible bomb attack from the Improvised Explosive device (IED). The email addressed to the Secretary of the Ministry of Heavy Industries was received, claiming that suicidal IEDs would be used in the Udyog Bhavan campus.

Reacting to this, the Union Secretary issued instructions to the Assistant Commandant of CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) to take immediate and appropriate action. The building was evacuated as a precaution. Security has been increased in and around the area and the authorities are taking all the necessary precautions.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Chandigarh Police received another call with bomb threatening, after which a high alert was issued around the Chief Minister’s Office of Haryana and other major government sites. Sources said that the caller threatened to blow up the Chief Minister’s office, after which the police immediately took action. Security has been tightened on both Haryana Secretariat and Chief Minister’s residence. As a precaution, bomb disposal squad and heavy weapons armed personnel searched and around these places. Officers are busy finding the source of the threat. No suspicious item has been found so far, but the situation is being closely monitored.
