Jagraon police station city police in Ludhiana on Friday took action against liquor smuggling. The police have arrested two smugglers, including a woman. A total of 80 bottles of liquor from Chandigarh and Haryana have been recovered from the accused.

According to the information, the accused have been identified as Darshan Singh alias Chuja and Paramjit Kaur alias Pammi. Darshan Singh is a resident of Mahavir Colony, while Paramjit Kaur Ladhi is a resident of Queen Wala Khuh.
Arrested from outside the cremation ghat
According to ASI Balwinder Singh, on the basis of secret information, Darshan Singh was arrested from outside the crematorium on Khunjra Road. 35 bottles of liquor were recovered from him. The accused used to bring cheap liquor from Chandigarh and sell it at expensive prices in Jagraon and surrounding areas.
Search of the houses of the accused
In the second case, the team of ASI Gurdeep Singh caught the female smuggler Paramjit Kaur from Aligarh Link Road. 45 bottles of Haryana liquor were recovered from him. The police have registered a case against both the accused and started further action. Both have been produced in court and their homes have also been searched.
