In a shocking revelations, former US National Security Advisor John Bolton has claimed that close personal relations between President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have now become a matter of the past. Bolton clearly stated, “Trump had a very good relationship with Modi. I think he is now over, and this is a lesson for everyone.” He indicated a rift in a diplomatic partnership once strong.

Bolton’s remarks have come at a time when Trump’s 50% tariff and White House advisor Peter Navaro has led to difficulties in Indo-US relations in recent weeks due to sporadic attacks on energy and defense relations with New Delhi’s Moscow. Trump has imposed a 50% duty on Indian imports in the US, taking action on Russia and the war of Vladimir Putin in Ukraine.
Bolton’s comment has come into a tense phase in Indo-US relations. Trump has imposed a 50 percent tariff on Indian goods, while Modi is seen in Beijing with Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, indicating the changing priorities of New Delhi. The former ally of Trump, who has now become a constant critic, said that the US presidents look at foreign policy with narrow glasses of personal relations.

Bolton said, “I think Trump looks international relations with his personal relations with leaders. So, if he has good relations with Vladimir Putin, America also has good relations with Russia. Obviously, it is not.” Bolton’s warning suggests that the much -transmitted “brotherhood” between Modi and Trump, which was once in the headlines from Houston’s “Houdi Modi” rally to state visits, has now reached a deadlock.
Bolton, who was Trump’s National Security Advisor from April 2018 to September 2019, has often expressed his views about the former President’s foreign policy. In August, Bolton’s house was raided by federal agents on the orders of FBI Director Kash Patel appointed by Trump.
Bolton also warned other leaders including Kir Starmer of Britain, saying, “Strong personal relations with Trump can give temporary benefits, but eventually it will not be able to save you from their worst decisions.”
In a conversation with X, Bolton said that the White House has “pushed the US-India relations back decades, causing Modi to come close to Russia and China. Beijing has introduced himself as an alternative to the US and Donald Trump.”
He said that in the last few months, Trump’s behavior with India has turned water to the US’s bilateral efforts that had been running for the years of motivating New Delhi from the Cold War alliance with Moscow and motivating Indian leaders as their main security threat. He said, “This situation has reversed. I think it can be reversed again, but it is a very bad phase.”
The FBI recently raided the Maryland Housing and Washington Office in Bolton to investigate the alleged misuse of confidential materials.Without naming Trump, PM Modi stated in Parliament that “no world leader had asked India to stop Operation Sindoor”, thus he denied the claims of the US President’s mediation, who said on several occasions that he had stopped the Indo-Pakistan war in May.
