US President Donald Trump has nominated his close aide Sergio Gore as the next Ambassador of the US in India. Sergio Gore is currently the director of the ‘White House Presidential Personal Office’.
Trump said in a social media post on Friday that Gore (38) “I have very good friends and have been with me for many years.” He said, “I am very happy to nominate Sergio Gore as the next Ambassador of America in India.”
Trump said Gore will also play the role of a special messenger for South and Central Asian affairs. The announcement has been made amidst the ongoing tension between the US and India.
Trump said that Gore and his team recruited about 4,000 officers in federal departments and agencies in “record time”, which has filled more than 95 percent of the posts. He said that he will remain in his current role in the ‘White House’ till the name of Gore is seal. Earlier Eric Garcheti was the US ambassador to India from May 2023 to January 2025.
