A 33-year-old tribal woman, who was allegedly raped in Telangana’s Medak district, has died. Police gave this information on Sunday. The woman was a daily wage laborer and had left her home on Friday to work.
Some residents had seen the woman lying unconscious under a tree in Kulcharam mandal on Saturday morning and informed the police. There was an injury mark on the woman’s head. A police officer said that the woman has five children.
He was first taken to a local hospital and later referred to another hospital in Hyderabad but he died on the way on Saturday night, they said.
The officer said that based on the complaint lodged by the woman’s husband, a case of rape and attempt to murder was initially registered, which has now been converted to murder after the woman’s death. On reports of the woman being gang-raped, he said that they are investigating and scanning CCTV footage.
