Justice Jasmit Singh’s bench approved the transplant of trees.
For the expansion of the Supreme Court building, the Delhi High Court has approved a transplant of 26 trees standing in the campus. Under this project, good facilities will be made for new courtrooms, constitutional courts, judges’ chains and lawyers.
In fact, the Supreme Court Project Division-1 and the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) filed a petition in the High Court seeking permission to transplant 26 trees. It was approved by the bench of Justice Jasmit Singh.
After this, the 16 trees present in the campus will be transplanted between the Supreme Court Gate A and B at the site of the garden. At the same time, 10 trees will be shifted to the corner of the administrative building near Gate No. 1.
Prior to approval, the court had conditioned to plant 260 new trees. The Delhi High Court had placed a condition of planting 260 new trees in exchange for 26 trees before allowing trees to transplant. During the hearing, advocate Sudhir Mishra told the court on behalf of the petitioner that all these 260 trees have been planted in Sundar Nursery.
High Court said- Tree officer gives new speaking order for transplant The court said that the first order of the tree officer regarding the tree transplant was not considered. For this reason, the tree officer will have to give a new speaking order within two weeks. In this, permit will have to be given on the basis of Delhi Preservation of Trees Act (DPTA) and earlier court decisions.
