Training: City Police’s training session on Juvenile Justice Act 2015, preparations to curb teen crime – Amritsar News

On the instructions of the Juvenile Justice Monitoring Committee of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Punjab Police organized a training session on the Juvenile Justice Act 2015. The office of DGP Community Affairs Division, Punjab, organized the session across the state in collaboration with the NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan. Earlier, in addition to Faridkot, Patiala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Border Range, training has also been imparted in Ludhiana and Jalandhar Commissionerate.

The sessions were held for police officers handling cases related to children. On the first day, DGP Gurpreet Dio, IPS inaugurated the first day. Increasing criminal involvement of minors, their rehabilitation in society, sensitivity towards children and compensation schemes for victims were discussed. On the second day on 25 March, Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, IPS interacted with the participants. ADCP headquarters Amritsar, Harkamal Kaur concluded. Dr. Chhaya Prasad, Clinical Director, Asha, Child Care and Development Clinic, Chandigarh, along with Dr. Kavita Surban and Baban Prakash, representatives of Bachpan Bachao Andolan, discussed the provisions of the JJ Act, amendments related to children with care and safety and provisions of the Poxo Act.

Historical decisions and case studies were discussed. Dr. Kavita Surban and Baban Prakash performed on the topic “Processes adopted under the JJ Act and challenges during investigation”. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh, IPS and ADCP headquarters Harkamal Kaur thanked the officials involved in the training program.
