A passenger passing under it derailed in western Russia late Saturday night due to a bridge collapsing and at least seven people were killed and at least 30 others were injured in the accident.
The Moscow Railway said in a statement that the bridge located in the Bryansk region of Russia, bordering Ukraine, has been damaged as a result of illegal intervention in transport works. Detailed information was not given in this regard.
Russia’s federal road transport agency ‘Rosawatodore’ said that the destroyed bridge was above the railway track from where the train was passing. In the photographs provided by various government agencies, the broken coaches of the train were seen lying in the middle of a concrete falling from the collapsed bridge.
Governor Alexander Bogomaz, Governor of the Brician region, said that officers and government officials associated with emergency services are doing relief and rescue work at the scene. He said that seven people have died and two children were also included in 30 injured. He said, “Every effort is being made to provide all the necessary assistance to the victims.
