A car caught fire on Mumbai’s Coastal Road on Thursday morning, after which the authorities stopped traffic on this route for about an hour, causing heavy traffic jams in the area. The officers provided this information.
An official said that no casualties were reported in the incident. The incident occurred inside the tunnel south direction at around nine in the morning. The Mumbai Traffic Police said on its ‘X’ handle, “Traffic has been stopped on the routes leading to the south and north of the coastal road (Taradev) due to the fire in the car.”
The official said that during the busy time, the car caught fire and both lanes going north and south near the tunnel got heavy jam. He said that after the incident, the traffic route on Haji Ali and Worli connector was changed.
The official said that the traffic police and fire departments reached the spot and the car was removed after an hour -long campaign. He said that after this, traffic was restored on both sides.
The entire part of the Coastal Road, built to reduce the travel time between South Mumbai and the suburbs, was opened on August 16 for all types of four -wheelers and buses.
This route will be open 24 hours for vehicles. Last Sunday, a high speed Lamborghini car collided with the provider of Costal Road, although the driver narrowly survived the accident.
