After the Pahalgam attack, there will be a mock drill of rescue methods during the war in 244 areas of the country on Wednesday (May 7) amid tension with Pakistan. The Ministry of Home Affairs has listed these areas as a civil defense district. These are different from general administrative districts.
Civil Defense Districts are divided into 3 categories based on their sensitivity. Catgary-1 is the most sensitive and category-3 less sensitive. On 5 May, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued orders to mock drills to all states.
The preparations for the mock drill were reviewed at the highlayal meeting held in the Ministry of Home Affairs in Delhi today. Many high rank officers including the Chief Secretary of the states and the Civil Defense Chief were present in it.

Civil defense mock drill purpose
1. To check alertness during the airroad warning system.
2. Adding hotline and radio communication with Indian Air Force.
3. To ensure that the working of the main and colleague control room is correct.
4. Teach the common people, students to protect themselves in the event of an attack.
5. Plan to evacuate people and check their examination in case of attack.
6. Reviewing all the steps to be taken during black out.
7. Tell me what to do in the position of black out.
8. Tell how to hide important institutions and big plants.
9. Activate civil defense system, management of teams helping ordinary citizens in emergency, management, rescue operation.
Civil defense mock drill 54 years after the 1971 Pakistan war
The last such mock drill in the country took place in 1971. Then there was a war between India and Pakistan. This mock drill took place during the war. However, blackout practice was done at Ferozepur Cantonment, Punjab on Sunday-Monday night. During this period, electricity was closed in villages and mohallas from 9 pm to 9:30 pm.
The Ministry of Home Affairs released a list of districts with mock drills on Tuesday. Among them, districts have been divided on the basis of state -wise sensitivity. A total of 244 Civil Defense Districts in 25 states of the country have been kept between category-1 to 3.
In fact, the Ministry of Home Affairs have created 259 Civil Defense Districts in a total of 35 states and Center -ruled regions of the country. It is not necessary that these Civil Defense Districts should be the general administical district. As –
A total of 19 civil defense districts have been created in Uttar Pradesh. These include administrative districts like Kanpur, Lucknow, Mathura, and areas like Bakshi-Ka-P-P-Pore, Sarwasa which are in Lucknow and Saharanpur. Air Force Station is present here.

A total of 259 Civil Defense Districts are divided into 3 categories on the basis of their import or sensitiveness.
Category 1 is the district who is the most sensitive. There are a total of 13 such districts. For example, there is only 1 District in Uttar Pradesh – Bulandshahr category 1 as Narora Nuclear Plant is present here.
Similarly, there are 201 in category 2 while in category 3 has 45 districts.

Citizens should be given guidelines of Ministry of Home Affairs, Cash According to sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs, during the mockdrill, it will be told what citizens have to do in the event of airport and blackout. The citizens have been instructed to keep medical kits, ration, flashlight and candles on their homes. Apart from this, keep cash with you, because mobile and digital transactions can fail in emergency.
