Namibia’s Christine Maboma won the heat with a time of 22.11 seconds. Apart from them, Gabrielle Thomas (22.20) of USA and Aminatu Sayani (22.72) of Niger finished second and third respectively and made it to the semi-finals.

The top three athletes in each of the seven heats and the next three best-timers qualified for the semifinals. Dutt’s maximum time is 23 seconds. She finished 38th out of 41 participants. Earlier on Friday, Dutt could not even make it to the semi-finals of the women’s 100-meter race. She finished seventh with a time of 11.54 seconds.
