The Punjab Government has started the first of its kind Janata Darbar from the Department of Water Supply and Sanitation. The first state-level online Janata Darbar will be held on February 6. If the residents of the villages are facing any problem regarding the supply of clean water and sanitation or they want to register a complaint, they can register their complaint online.

In this online Janata Darbar, people will be heard by Minister of Water Supply and Sanitation Department, Bram Shankar Jimpa. All senior officers of the department and district officers will also be present with them.

Bram Shankar Jimpa said that under the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the first state-level online Janata Darbar will be organized on February 6 from 11.30 am to 2 pm. He said that such Janata Darbars will be held every 15 days so that government services can be provided to the people at their rates as promised by the Hon’ble government. He said that for the success of the Janata Darbar, guidelines have been issued to the officers and employees posted at the district locations.

Gimpa said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is very serious about the better quality of drinking water and is making efforts in this direction. Apart from this, many schemes are being worked on by the Punjab government to ensure sanitation in the villages.

The working procedure has been issued by Mohammad Ishfaq, Head of Water Supply and Sanitation Department, regarding filing complaints in this Janata Darbar. He said that the Minister of Water Supply and Sanitation Bram Shankar Jimpa will attend the online Janata Darbar at Chandigarh in which all chief engineers will also participate. Apart from this, Group Superintending Engineers and Group Executive Engineers will attend Janata Darbar online from their respective offices.

The head of the department said that the complaints which will be filed in advance will be settled on priority basis. After that opportunity will be given to those citizens who could not file complaint earlier on ‘first come, first served’ basis.

The Executive Engineer (SNK) will keep a record of all the complaints and the complaints received in advance will be forwarded to the concerned authorities so that the officials can present their side in the ministerial meeting. The record of complaints will be kept in Google form by the Executive Engineer (SNK).

It is certain that the villagers will wait in their virtual waiting room during the Janata Durbar. Citizens will come one by one on the basis of the priority of the registered complaints and after listening to the complaints, the Minister will make every effort to resolve them on the spot. Only after this the next complaint will be heard. If a complainant does not want to wait or if the meeting time runs out, he can lodge his complaint later on the toll free number / email / website.
