Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma said that three suspected drug smugglers were arrested during separate campaigns in the state and seized restricted materials including morphine and Yaba Tablet worth more than seven crore rupees.
Sharma said that two operations were carried out in Sri Bhumi district and on Saturday in Karbi Anglong. He said in a post on Sunday on the social media forum ‘X’, “Continuous action against drugs continues. 20,000 Yaba Tablets worth more than Rs 3 crore were recovered last night in two separate campaigns run against drugs by Sri Bhumi police. ‘
The Chief Minister said that two people have been arrested in this campaign. Yaba Tablet is illegal in India, as it contains methamfetamine, which is Schedule-2 substance under the controlled matter act.
Sharma had said in another post on social media on Saturday evening that a suspected drug smuggler has been arrested and a morphine worth more than four crore rupees has been seized from him.
He said in a post on ‘X’ on Saturday, “Does want to get intoxicated in the holidays? (But) this does not happen in Assam, because our party’s plans are different. ”
The Chief Minister said, “In a great campaign by Karbi Anglong police, 4.1 kg of morphine worth more than four crore rupees has been seized and one person has also been arrested.
