Ranya was arrested on March 3 in a gold smuggling case of Rs 14.2 crore.
The Revenue Intelligence Directorate (DRI) has made another arrest in the gold smuggling case associated with Kannada actress Ranya Rao.
After interrogation on Wednesday, March 26, DRI arrested Sahil Sakaria Jain, a gold businessman from Bellary.
Sahil Jain is accused of helping Ranya Rao in hiding the smuggled gold. The special court sent Sahil Jain to police custody for four days.
Ranya was arrested on March 3 in a gold smuggling case of Rs 14.2 crore. After this, on March 10, Ranya’s friend Tarun Raju was arrested. Both had given a bail plea in the court.
The Bengaluru session court can decide on the bail of Ranya and Tarun Raju on 27 March today.
Ranya’s stepfather was sent on vacation without reason
DRI raided two jewelery stores in Bengaluru. The name of a firm named Veera Diamonds Trading has been revealed in the case.
According to DRI, Tarun Raju joined a firm called Veera Diamonds Trading in Dubai in 2023, importing gold from Geneva and Bangkok to sell in Dubai. However, both were smuggling it in India as well.
Tarun Raju said that he had gone out of Veera Diamonds in December 2024. He applied for bail. Ramchandra Rao, the half -father, senior police officer of Ranya Rao, has also been questioned in this case. A few days after Ranya’s arrest, the officer was sent to a “compulsory holiday”. No reason was given in the order.
Ranya accused DRI of assaulting and hungry
The actress accused DRI officials of assaulting and starving. Ranya wrote a letter to the Additional Director General of DRI and described himself as innocent and said that he was implicated in a false case.
Ranya wrote- Dri officers were pressurizing me to sign empty pages. I was also slapped 10-15 times on refusing. I was made a lot of pressure, followed by 50-60 typed pages and 40 empty pages.
Ranya had told the person of the person found at Dubai Airport
On March 14, Ranya described the investigating officers as the hulia of the person found at Dubai Airport. This person gave him gold, whom he was arrested at the Bengaluru Kempagauda International Airport.
